Governing Board

Trinity Primary School currently has 11 Governors. The full Governing Body (GB) meets 6 times a year- twice per term- to review and discuss the work of the school. For 2025-26, the GB has decided to dissolve the previous committee system and meet only as a single GB.  Where needed, small groups of governors are convened to discuss specific issues, such as the Headteacher’s Performance Management and other matters relating to pay.

Governing Bodies have three main functions:

1. To provide vision and set the strategic direction of the school

2. To ensure that the headteacher and other school leaders are supported, but are also held to account for the outcomes achieved

3. To ensure that resources are used effectively and efficiently providing good value for money.

It is important to stress that all these roles are STRATEGIC – it is not the GB’s job to run the school on a day-to-day basis.

Opportunities frequently arise for new governors to join the Board, either as Parent Governors or Co-Opted Governors. It is not necessary to have worked in education, but governors are expected to keep abreast of the broad educational landscape and have a keen interest in educational matters.

Governing bodies are always trying to be as broad and diverse as possible and people from a range of professional backgrounds can help to achieve this.

If interested, even on an exploratory basis, please contact, in the first instance, the Clerk to the GB via the main school office.

Nick Rynn undertakes the role of Link (Lead) Governor for Safeguarding, Pupil Premium and Wellbeing, with these being a standing item in the Governor meetings.
